Last night in Porec, on the city square on the coastline, the opening ceremony of the European youth chess championship has been held. In the name of the patron of the competition, the President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, the championship has been declared open by the Croatian Chess Federation President Josip Leko. The opening ceremony has been attended by many guests including representatives of the Istria County, the Mayor of the City of Porec Edi Stifanic, the representative of the European Chess Union Adrian Mihaljcisin, the representative of the Croatian Olympic Committee Sinisa Krajac and many more. The opening ceremony will take place on Sunday September 20. at 20,00 in the city center, on the coast in front of the “Neptun” hotel.

The President of the Croatian Chess Federation Josip Leko, the Director of the European Youth Chess Championship Željko Kiseljak, members of the board of the Croatian chess federation Ivan Mandekić and Luka Kalinić, secretary of the Croatian chess federation Ervin Sindik, had a working visit to Porec.
